The History Of The Rainbow Flag

Designed by artist and activist Gilbert Baker in 1978, the flag's vibrant spectrum of colours represents the diversity of identities within the queer community. Each hue holds significance: red symbolises life, orange represents healing, yellow signifies sunlight, green embodies nature, blue reflects serenity, and purple conveys spirit. Originally consisting of eight colours, the flag was later streamlined to six, but its essence remained unchanged.
